Bowral area private schools

Postby possum » Tue Jun 15, 2010 7:12 pm

Wonder if anyone out there can help me. My family is relocating to the Southern Highlands area, after 4 years overseas, and would like to know about the reputation of private secondary schools in the area. There is very little information about Australian schools on the internet and it is very difficult to get a 'feel' for a school from a website. Sometimes a school is more sporting inclined than others or more academic or offer an arts/drama based programme. Most will say they do everything equally well but this is rarely the case.

I have been thinking about Chevalier College or Oxley College. We are Christian (but not very churchy) and not worried about denomination but would be concerned if my children were taught creationism exclusively, for example. At the moment the kids attend a small school with small class sizes and I'm concerned the size of Chevalier could be a bit overwhelming.

Any thoughts or insights would be greatly appreciated.

As you can see by these 2009 results:

Chevalier College ranked #30 http://www.chevalier.nsw.edu.au/
Oxley College ranked #143 http://www.oxleylearning.org/portal/
