Bowral Police Station Officers on assault charges

Postby creampie » Fri Aug 13, 2010 4:39 am

THREE Bowral police officers have been charged with assaulting a 36-year-old man on March 22.
The charges stem from an incident outside a hotel in Bong Bong Street where the man was allegedly drunk.

He was arrested and taken to Bowral police station and charged with refusing to obey a move-along direction and using offensive language.

It is alleged the man was assaulted by police during the arrest and later at the police station.

A police spokesman said the male officers, aged 36, 43 and 44 years, were the subject of an investigation by a Detective Inspector from Goulburn Local Area Command, which was overseen by the Southern Region Professional Standards Manager.

“One officer has been charged with common assault,” he said.

“Another officer has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“The third officer has been charged with common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.”
