Bowral police create a car crash and assault

Postby creampie » Tue May 24, 2011 1:28 am

Bowral Police created a devastating car crash and an assault to a female. This could of become much worse if the car had hit other pedestrians or drivers on the road.. all because of raising revenue no matter what the cost.

A HIGH-speed police pursuit of a vehicle in the NSW Southern Highlands was abandoned when the driver reached 217km/h then crashed into trees, police say.

A Victorian man was allegedly clocked travelling at 148km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Hume Highway at Mittagong, when police attempted to stop him about 9am (AEST) on Saturday.

They say they gave chase but abandoned the pursuit when his vehicle reached a speed of 217km/h.

A short time later, the car crashed into trees on a median strip.

Witnesses told police the vehicle had sped along in a breakdown lane, passing other cars, then slammed into the rear of another vehicle.

The car spun out of control and skidded into a group of trees.

Police allege the driver attempted to car-jack another vehicle, which had stopped to offer assistance.

A female passenger in the second car was allegedly assaulted in the incident.

A 40-year-old man was later arrested and taken to Bowral police station, where he was being questioned.
